Masdar City

The world is moving very fast and the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi is trying to improve and develop quickly. There are many projects which will be completed in a few years but I will concentrate on Masdar City.
Masdar is a city but a very different city. Let's talk about why it's different. Masdar will be first city in the world without carbon and garbage and cars because it will use metro. The city located near to the Abu Dhabi Airport and it will contain about 50 thousand people. I like change and this city will different in life style. I hope not just visit the city I hope to live in it. I think its dream to live in clean city; I hate smoke because it makes me sick. The city also not that far away from centers of Abu Dhabi it about 15m.
To conclude, Abu Dhabi government will wonder the with this kind of city, I hope to live in it to feel about what the world dream on it.

3. Seattle: reduce its own pollution by 60% by constructing green buildings and operating alternative fuel vehicles.
4. Houston Texas: By 2010 all vehicles will become hybrid.
5. Salt Lake City: save 32000 a year on its energy cost by installing 861 light emitting diode (LED) traffic signals.
6. Washington DC: replace 414 of its pollution diesel buses with cleaner burning, compressed natural gas buses.
7. Colombia Missouri: working to produce 10% of their electricity with clean energy like wind and solar power by 2015.
8. Twin falls Idaho- School increased their efficiency of energy which caused to reduce the cost by $3.2 million.

Abu Dhabi A Cool City

Introduction

The world is moving very fast and the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi is trying to improve and develop quickly. However, that development will cost the city and the world some problems such as global warming which is really threat to the world. A carbon footprint is a way of measurement the amount of carbon dioxide and gases which is effect the planet. There are many projects which will be completed in a few years to challenge these problems like Masdar City which will build without carbon and garbage. We live on one planet so the countries have to sign Kyoto Protocol and work together to save the planet.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon Footprint

Have you ever heard about carbon footprint? A carbon footprint is one way to measure your effect on the earth. My carbon footprint 2.85 that’s mean I need nearly three planet to live.

The first one is I eat meat and fish a lot in week so that effect the climate when they transport meat to our country because we import meats from foreign countries. A further point is that I travel a lot by plane; most of my trips are neighbourhood countries but it also affects the atmosphere because of fuel which planes burn. A last important point is using air conditioning. Here in the Middle East we use AC a lot because of the weather and that effect the earth also.

Of course, every problem has solution. One answer is I will try to eat different kinds of food and the UAE try to increase agriculture. Another solution is that I will reduce my trips but I don’t think that will reduce carbon because the alternative is a vehicle which is also use fuel. A final answer is that people or companies built villas which keep the temperature to help people not use AC that much.

To conclude, carbon footprint is one of component which threads our planet. We have to reduce that to save our planet because we live on one planet and we should care about other people who live with us.
What should be done in Abu Dhabi to make people more aware of the solution?

Actually, in Abu Dhabi they start doing project help the city and world against global warming like Masdar City. I hope that the governments do some programs and safety instructions to make people more aware about the danger of global warming

Why is it called an inconvenient?

Why is it called an inconvenient?

Because some people don’t want to believe that the future of the earth is in danger so they don’t believe the global warming because that affects their working and their future. They try to confidence their self that will not happen.

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

In this film An Inconvenient Truth the presenter concentrated on global warming. The presenter is named Al Gore who challenged George Bush to be president of USA but he lost. He begins with an earth image and its changes over time and he talks about gases which effect the atmosphere to become thick. He showed also how the earth will become hotter with scientific evidence. He gave us some examples of glacier melting in some countries but he also talked about the possibility to go back to the ice age. The frightening thing about this issue was the 10 hottest years over were in the last 14 years, not just that, the hottest year was 2005! As Al Gore said. Global warming also affects hurricanes; they become stronger when it crosses hot water. It also effect the animals, some of them are dying out and we will see new in different areas with new diseases. The countries which are responsible most of this problem are USA, Japan, Russia and UK. He concentrated on the USA, and how his country didn’t do any thing to protect the nature. Their excuse was economy. He suggested some solution to his country like electricity end-use efficiency, passenger vehicle efficiency and renewable energy.

REACTION
After I watched the film An Inconvenient Truth there are many thing changed in my way of thinking. Really, he convinced me on many points. Our planet walking in a wrong way from year to year the planet becomes hotter. There are some dangerous facts like the hottest year was 2005 and some examples of melting glacier. I agree with the presenter on many points but I disagree with him on the solution. It is very good but he concentrated in America, he talked about an issue that matters the worlds so i hope that he give the world a solution not just America. I hope that industrial countries care more about our planet and I hope that people change there mind because what is happening is truth and dangerous

My Profile

I’m an emirati I was born in 1988 in Abu Dhabi with big family 6 brothers and sister also my grandfather and uncle live with us. I’m very lucky because im emirati and live in one of the best cities in the world ,Abu Dhabi.

I had a nice childhood and to be honest I don’t remember any thing before my first day in school. My beginning with the pencil and the book was in 1995. It was boring day but different for me with new friends and learning new things and from that day I start my long trip in education. When I 10 years old I got lost in Al Ain after we finished Al Jumma pray, my father thought am with my uncle and my uncle thought am with my father, they left me there. After that young man asked me what you do here, I told him the story then I went to his home I stayed there and play game I forgot that am lost. My uncle looking for me and asked people if them saw me, they told him where I am, then he found me and I go back home with him.

I had nice time in high school. In first year I had some difficult with science subject because I hate it. Last year in high school was very important year maybe it is the most important year because it determine your direction. It was very tired year. We worked hard to get high marks. I graduated with 86% and I joined HCT. I am very happy because my friend Bader and Obaid still with me until now and I hope we graduate from college together again.

I have traveled to few places. My favorite trip was before two years when I traveled to Egypt. I have been in Alexandria for about two weeks and through these two weeks I went to Cairo. I enjoyed very much in this trip. I visited pyramids by camels and horses and the problem was the weather because it very hot. When I was in Alexandria I visited beach it was a nice one and I went to museums and centers we enjoyed with Egyptian films in cinema.

In my free time I like to play football and enjoy watching Barcelona team which is a Spanish club. I like also play bowling and spent nice time with my friends with challenge in bowling game.
